Hi
One of the houses have gone but the approach to the village may still look the same as you remember.
The Mountain View if still there in fact reopens tonight under new management.
A55 bypass took a lot of traffic out of Pen don't know if it was a good thing though.
The village got a huge facelift and looks wonderful but more important the people are still the
same. Friendly and welcoming.

Don't know about the girl but some areas of Pen are looking much better than I can remember. Through the wonders of Google Maps these are recent views of the approaches to Pen from the Northeast via Conwy (Conway) Road which used to be the main A55 though the town.
The first shows a group of older houses just past Station Road East which is a hill down to the Station and beach. There are some newer houses visible further down the road. The second shows the war memorial on the right and the Mountain View further down on the left.
To wander freely around the town just follow this link, find Penmaenmawr and move the little yellow man to where you want to walk!

You might spot your old girlfriend waiting at the bus-stop. Frightening really.

I think I'm turning into a silver geek! These two photos show how the West end of Bangor Road looks now. The first shows Crimea and Victoria Terraces then at the far end what looks to me just what the Goat Inn used to look like.

Hi
There are quite a few houses before you get to station road. Enjoyed the google map though.
Glad I cleaned my windows.
The pictures must be about 2 years old. Shops have changed.

Just a friendly warning...........

I'll be up in the area tomorrow in the late afternoon, for a week.........

Anyone who does not behave in that time, will be placed in the stocks, where an ample supply of over ripe tomates will be available for passers by !

Anyone not buying me a drink too, will suffer a similar fate....

Looking forward to doing some mountain and beach walking......

I'll be there around 9:15 am on Tuesday....

At the moment I don't know where Betty's is, but I'm sure that someone can tell me on the day....

Have a meeting in Llandudno at 11:00 am, after finding a place to park...

Look forward to seeing you......Glad it's only tea or coffee, as I won't drink and drive....

Thanks for the message Tim, I have replied but got an error message from the site so who knows?
These are the houses that Viv means, now a mixture of new and old. The first thing you used to see on the right as you approached Pen were the gasometers of the local gasworks. Not a pretty site so there have been some definite improvements!
As Viv says, the Google pictures are probably out of date but if you continued down the street into Pant-yr-Avon hopefully the bus to Bangor did eventually arrive and the children in their buggies outside the Spar have started school. But what was going on outside the NatWest bank? It looks like smash-and-grab raid, or just someone parked on a double yellow line, and on the pavement, arguing with a traffic warden.

Here's a quarry photo from 1906 looking up the Penmaenan incline from the jetty showing the whole area. I've labelled the various terraces - hopefully correctly! You'll have to scroll across to see Goat Terrace.

Here's the original photo without the labels - http://www.penmaenmawr.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=1&pid=86

This is great Gwyn, I have been trying to place Goat and Sea Terraces for a while now! Don't suppose you can place The Huts on the photos too could you?
